a new white paper explaining the benefits of the variable-input
lookup table (LUT) architecture, which has been at the heart of
Xilinx® FPGAs for several product generations. Consistent
architectural evolution has allowed Xilinx, third-party vendors and
end-users, to perfect software tools and intellectual property (IP)
implementations for the best performance and device utilization.
Advantages of the variable-input LUT architecture are clearly
demonstrated through the industry-leading performance and density
of the Virtex® series. This leadership has resulted in broad
