ML-310 Virtex-II Proâ„¢ development platform
Virtex-II Pro XC2VP30-based embedded platform for accelerated system development.  In addition to more than 30,000 logic cells, over 2,400 Kb of BRAM, and dual PPC405 processors available in the FPGA, the ML310 provides onboard Ethernet MAC/PHY, DDR memory, multiple PCI bus slots, and standard PC I/O ports within an ATX form factor board.

An integrated System ACEâ„¢ CF controller is deployed to perform board bring-up and to load applications from the included 512 MB CompactFlash card.

Complete documentation and ordering information available here

Spartan-3â„¢ Development Board

The Digilab Spartan-3 board is the perfect introduction to the redefined logic landscape pioneered by the Spartan-3 Platform FPGA family.  The board gives students instant access to cutting edge 90nm technology and complete platform capabilities of the Spartan-3 Family.

The Digilab Spartan-3 provides for a complete, low cost educational platform.  The board includes:

  • A full featured printed circuit board containing:
  • Xilinx Spartan-3 200,000 gate Platform FPGA - XC3S200
  • Xilinx 2Mbit PlatformFlash configuration PROM - XCF02S
  • 1M-byte of Fast Asynchronous SRAM from memory supplier ISSI
  • Full Debug Capabilities
  • Daughter Card Expansion Ports
  • JTAG Cable –Easily download a design to the FPGA from a PC parallel port
  • Power Supply – Universal power supply (110-220V, 50/60Hz) provides a +5V output with on-board voltage regulation to 3.3V, 2.5V and 1.2V.
  • Leading Xilinx software available through the Xilinx University Program
  • ISE development software required for all FPGA development
  • System Generator for DSP and Spartan-3 provides for a low-cost FPGA based DSP platform
  • Embedded Developers Kit  (EDK)  includes the MicroBlaze soft processor core and standard set of peripherals
  • ChipScope Pro for internal FPGA probing

Board are available through Digilent Inc and Xilinx University Program. For further information, please visit Digilent's web page on the Spartan-3â„¢ board.

JBitsâ„¢
The JBitsâ„¢ 3.0 Software Development Kit for Virtex-II contains class files to create Run Time Reconfigurable applications and tools using the Virtex-II architecture from Xilinx.

/JBits/ is an Application Program Interface (API) to the Xilinx configuration bitstream. This API permits Java applications to dynamically modify Xilinx Virtex-II bitstreams. The advantage of this approach is primarily one of speed. Java programs performing such reconfigurations can be compiled and run very quickly. /JBits/ may be used as a stand-alone tool or as a base to produce other tools, including traditional place-and-route CAD applications as well as more application specific tools.

Professor Workshops
If you have thought about teaching an engineering course which utilizes Programmable Logic technology, then attending a Professors Workshops is the best way to get started. These workshops involve on-site presentation combined with hands-on lab exercises on the PC. Workshops are taught mainly by industry professionals.

  • Embedded Design Flow, Georgia Institute of Technology, USA, Oct 18th & 19th
  • DSP Design Flow, Georgia Institute of Technology, USA, Oct 20th & 21st
  • "Embedded Linux on MicroBlaze" - University of Queensland, AUSTRALIA - Dec 9th
  • "Embedded Linux on MicroBlaze" - University of Queensland, AUSTRALIA - Dec 10th

The great news is that these WORKSHOPS ARE FREE!! Seats are limited at each event and demand is typically quite high, we recommend that you sign up as soon as possible. Workshop presentation and instruction may be offered in local language when appropriate and qualified instructor is available. Please see workshop schedule for more details.

Let us know if you or your students are presenting papers or projects using Xilinx products. We at XUP encourage and support your participation at Conferences. Please let us know if there is any thing that we can provide in the way of Xilinx products to facilitate your participation.

We are also inviting local schools to show case  their work at our booth. If, you have an interesting projects and wish to demo it in our booth, sent an email to xup@xilinx.com indicate what event you would like to join us at and a short description of your demo.

The Xilinx University Resource Center is a comprehensive online library of Xilinx related support and teaching material tailored to universities for both professors and students. The site provides a collection of resources already located on the web as well as original content. In addition, a robust online support system, consisting of a mailing list, discussion board, and e-mail is in place and monitored to answer any questions that you may have.
